Stockport Council are hosting two events to help employers and managers recognise the signs and know what help is available for victims of domestic abuse.
Domestic violence affects the workplace (whether profit or non-profit). It affects productivity, attendance, employee retention, risks to business and, ultimately, profits / effectiveness.
1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men are directly affected by domestic abuse. 75% of people are targeted at work, through social media, site visits, telephone calls, and other ways.
But, less than 30% of workplaces know how to respond.
This event is for employers and managers to:
- Understand what domestic abuse is.
- Recognise the signs of domestic abuse.
- Understand their responsibility to staff who may be experiencing domestic abuse.
- Know what services are available to support their staff.
- Consider what needs to be included in their HR policy on domestic abuse
