DJS Research Ltd, one of the leading market research agencies in the North of England, has been recognised at a regional level too scooping two awards at the 2014 Stockport Business Awards – Stockport Business of the Year £1-5m and Stockport Business Person of the Year.
The agency, which this year also came out top of a UK-wide government procurement process featuring more than 500 companies, has seen permanent staff increase by 29% in the last twelve months, with turnover for the last financial year hitting slightly just under £3 million, and profits increasing two fold.
Speaking about the awards success, Danny Sims, Managing Director, (pitured centre) said:
“To be named as Stockport’s Business of the Year in our category for 2014 is a huge accolade for everyone at DJS Research – including all our research and operations staff, our marketing, finance and support teams, our fantastic team of telephone interviewers and our national network of face to face interviewers and recruiters, to name just a few.
“Having seen the programme on the night, we were up against some really stiff competition, including someone who had previously won the Business Person of the Year award, so the success is all the better for having had such strong competition. I’d like to congratulate everyone who won on the night, and everyone who was shortlisted for an award – Stockport and the surrounding area is a thriving business area and so just to make the awards ceremony is a massive achievement. Finally, many thanks to Clarke Nicklin for organising the event and to everyone who put their time in to making it a success, it was a fantastic night.”
As well as the wider company (members of the team pictured above) being selected as Business of the Year, DJS Research also had individual success – with Alasdair Gleed being named the region’s Business Person of the Year and Elliot Simmonds shortlisted for Young Business Person of the Year.
Alasdair has been a key business winner for the agency, as well as appearing in a number of regional and national news websites and recorded interviews, and driving forward a range of new techniques including the specialist Localise methodology. His major new client wins include NS&I, Research Councils UK and the NHS Business Services Authority and he was a lead member of the team which submitted a proposal for the UK-wide procurement framework. The findings of his research report on behalf of Booktrust, published on the Guardian, have received nearly 7,000 social shares from that site alone.
Elliot has been with DJS Research for around 7 years in different guises, and leads marketing and communications at the agency. At the age of 23, he has also developed in to a solid business winner – including securing research projects with regional and national clients in a range of sectors – such as The Home Office, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and The Sixth Form College Birkenhead. He is also a key member of the VoicED team, a specialist education market research panel within DJS Research Ltd.
