Stockport’s submissions demonstrated evidence of a clear vision for the digital future of the council and how the digital programme has helped to drive the improvement of service delivery for residents.

Councillor David Sedgwick, Cabinet Member for Reform and Governance at Stockport Council, said:

“It is great news for Stockport Council and for the residents.

“Being shortlisted demonstrates that other councils recognise Stockport as leading the way in digital innovation.

“We have listened to what our users wanted and introduced a range of new self-serve websites, digital tools and ‘My Account’ for residents. We have transformed the way we work, creating new tools that help us to manage complex issues more efficiently and tackle issues before they escalate and we have devised new processes and equipment that make it easier for our staff to work in the community.”

Stockport Council has also recently received the Granicus Digital Achievement Award 2017 for leading the way in public sector digital outreach and engagement with citizens.

Stockport is competing against six other local authorities for the coveted Digital Council of the Year award.

There will be another round of judging in January 2018 and winners will be announced in late March.
