Creative marketing agency, Dawn Creative, are walking the 3,006 km from Stockport to Santa’s home in Lapland to raise money for Stockport charity, Seashell Trust.
With the coronavirus pandemic preventing real travel, the Dawn Creative team will be making the journey virtually, walking the distance between their team members in the 84 days before Christmas.
Based on an average step-length of 76 cm, the Stockport creative agency will need to walk a total of 3,955,263 Steps to Santa to meet their goal. The agency have set a fundraising target of £3,006 (a pound for every kilometre) to support the Seashell Trust.
Director, Dave O’Hearns explained the reasons for launching the Steps to Santa campaign in the office. He wrote in a company blog post:
As a team, we like to set challenges for ourselves to bring us closer together, keep our body’s active and our mind’s healthy, especially in these tricky times. Although currently we can all feel sorry for ourselves and hope for change to come soon so we can live a normal life, this is always the case for other people. In some cases, normal life has never been there or never will be. “
Based in Stockport, the Seashell Trust is a national charity supporting children and young adults with complex learning disabilities and additional communication needs from across the UK. Dave continued:
Not only is this charity local to us but it also supports people that struggle in a world which is full of communication, a world which we play a part in to help brands be better at talking to their target audience both in words and visuals, so we could not think of a better charity to support in our challenge.”
At time of writing, the team have so far raised £542 of their target, and the company will donate a sum of money for every 1 million step milestone reached. Dawn Creative have set up a VirginMoney Page for any donations to the team’s campaign
