Coronation Street star actress Sally Dynevor is the latest star to be named as a new patron of Stockport’s Beechwood Cancer Care charity.
Sally – who is famed for her long standing role in Coronation Street as Sally Webster – now Metcalfe – is delighted to be taking on the position.
The Coronation Street star first became aware of Beechwood and its services through a friend and fellow actress Morag Siller, who was also a patron of the charity – but sadly lost her own battle with breast cancer in April of this year, at the age of just 46.
Sally, who has lived through breast cancer herself – and is also a patron at Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention, based in Wythenshawe – had accompanied Morag to Beechwood events, including the Ladies Lunch, and wants to now carry on her good work.
She said: “I am delighted and honoured to become a patron at Beechwood. I have been overwhelmed by the work that they do and how they help patients and their families. I am so pleased that Morag introduced me to them and I am pleased I will be able to keep a connection for Morag, who was so very passionate about the work she did and cared very much about Beechwood.”
Fundraising manager at Beechwood Cancer Care Centre, Angela Gray, is thrilled to have Sally on board in support of Beechwood alongside other patrons that include goalkeeper Shay Given, actors Lee Boardman and Jennifer James, and Luis Troyano from the Great British Bake Off.
Angela said: “Sally is an amazing person, and we are so grateful to her for becoming a patron at Beechwood. She knows first-hand what it is like to live through cancer and has seen how our services help patients and their families. It is great to have her join the team.”
Beechwood Cancer Care Centre can help with every stage of cancer. Visitors to the Centre include those who have just been diagnosed and need a listening ear, people at different stages of treatment and those ready to move on following treatment.
