Construction companies are no strangers to apprentices, however a recent survey has shown that 81 per cent of construction bosses were unaware of all the financial support that’s available to them. New wage incentives of £1500 per candidate are now available for employers and training is completely government funded for 16-18 year olds.
The survey of 1,000 businesses, which was commissioned by Skills Solutions, Greater Manchester ‘s largest training provider, also showed that 79 per cent of construction employers from across the UK believe that apprentices make more motivated and satisfied employees.
Statistics from the survey highlighted that bosses within the construction sector, who have previously taken on apprentices, were impressed by the standard of candidates, so much so that 94 per cent promoted their trainees to management.
Skills Solutions’ ‘Yes to Apprenticeships’ campaign offers employers a free recruitment service along with a large pool of suitable candidates to choose from, including those looking to avoid the rising costs of university fees by choosing a vocational training route.
