Solutions SK, a Stockport Council wholly owned company has been working hard to spread festive cheer across the borough by installing Christmas trees and lighting.
Some 380 Christmas motifs and festoon lights have been installed in the town centre and district centres, including Edgeley, Cheadle, Heaton Mersey and Gatley, in addition to maintaining 32,000 street lights.
The majority of the lights have been installed during normal working hours, but some of the work has been completed outside normal working hours, to keep disruption to a minimum.
30 Christmas trees have also been put up around the district centres including Marple, Reddish, Edgeley, Hazel Grove and Bramhall as well as installing the main Christmas tree on Mersey Square.
Councillor Iain Roberts, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said:
“Solutions SK has been doing an excellent job installing festive lights and putting up Christmas trees which has helped give the borough a real festive feel. Our towns and villages have all the ingredients for a fun-filled Christmas, so I’d encourage people to stay local and make the most of Stockport this Christmas”.
Barry Brockbank, Head of Operations at Solutions SK, commented:
“The work Solutions SK does in helping Stockport celebrate Christmas is one of the many services we provide that are consistently delivered quietly, efficiently and successfully. A big ‘thank you’ to our teams for their efforts and, whilst it’s perhaps a little premature, ‘Happy Christmas’ to Stockport’s residents from Solutions SK.”
Solutions SK Christmas lights programme started in October and lasts until early January, with regular maintenance visits to the sites during the four months.
