Poynton based Solo Containment unveiled a world first at this years Interphex Pharma and Biotech show with the launch of the worlds first disposable aseptic fill isolator.
Solo recognised a gap in the biotechnology field where new treatments for cell therapy are manufactured in small batch sizes where the cost and validation time associated with conventional stainless steel isolators is prohibitive.
Solo’s solution is a compact laminar flow isolator that is fully kitted out for vial filling at the Poynton factory. The system is then gamma irradiated to ensure sterility.
When needed for completion of the cell therapy production the Solo enclosure can be set up in minutes to provide a reliable Grade A aseptic environment.
At the end of the vial fill operation the entire system is easily removed for incineration.
Visitors to the Interphex exhibition were able to see the Solo system in operation and were impressed by the rapid set up time and low cost.
Feedback from the show is very positive and deliveries of the system are due later in 2018.
