As winter approaches we’re all conscious of the rising cost of energy both in our businesses and our homes.
The Chair of the Stockport Economic Alliance, Steve Oliver, is urging businesses to access #Hereforbusiness support as they navigate increases in the cost of doing business. A number of extremely informative workshops, webinars and face to face drop in will be taking place across the borough in the next few weeks which will tackle this issue and I’m sure will be well worth taking a look at. You may be surprised at what you can learn!
The Council also has information available on its website, which points to advice and support for dealing with rising business and energy costs and to assist you in supporting your employees. www.stockport.gov.uk/costofdoingbusiness
Another thing I am sure we are all acutely aware of is looking after the more vulnerable in our society and there is a potential new scheme in the offing to enable us all to potentially do that called “One for the Pot”.
The scheme would encourage local businesses to ‘sponsor’ a participating café or coffee shop with a one-off donation. Their gift would then enable the café to offer people in need access to a free drink and a place to sit for a while.
The “One for the Pot” scheme is not yet operational, but if you’d be interested in getting involved, please contact economyws@stockport.gov.uk
Take care everyone,
Steve Oliver, Chair of Stockport Economic Alliance & CEO musicMagpie
