In this week’s Stockport Express business news, Chair of Stockport Chamber, Clarke Nicklin’s Brian Bradley, reports on why he is so proud of Stockport.
“As an avid arts lover, it’s brilliant to see the array of music and theatrical events popping up in the area.
“There’s the ‘Seven Miles Out’ centre where you can enjoy a huge range of events such as Northern Soul nights, Saturday sessions showcasing local talent and Sound & Vision stepping back into the sounds of the 70’s,80’s and 90’s on the last Saturday of every month.
There is an upcoming fundraiser to help Seven Miles Out continue running these events: The ‘Strawberry Studios Stockport’ concert takes place on 20th March at The Plaza.
Brian continued:
“It’d be fantastic to see some friendly faces at The Plaza and there’s also Foodie Friday which I urge you to check out, it takes place on the last Friday of every month in Stockport market place and brings together a range of local street food traders and fantastic live music performances. The next event takes place on 26th February.
“If it’s a bit of drama you’re after then head down to Romiley Forum to check out one of N K Theatre’s upcoming performances. Next week from Wednesday to Saturday they are running ‘Stags and Hens’ – a comedy about a Stag night and Hen do that end up in the same nightclub – if you’re lucky you might still grab a ticket.
“Later in the year, at the end of April, the NK Theatre company will be performing Jesus Christ Superstar. I have been to a few performances now and I can honestly say they are as good as you’d see at The Palace in Manchester (at a fraction of the price!)
“If you want to support Stockport a little further afield then I urge you to check out Blossoms upcoming gigs, the five-piece started performing in their namesake local pub and are now performing all over the world. There really is no business like show business!
