Home care company, Home Instead Stockport and Tameside, are inviting local businesses to get involved with the firm’s ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ gift-giving campaign.
The company, which provides home care services to ageing adults throughout the area, run their Christmas campaign annually. This year they have linked with Nevill Road Junior School in Bramhall, where pupils will be creating cards and letters to send to older people throughout the community this Christmas who may not otherwise receive a gift.
The company are calling out for local businesses and groups to get involved too; not just by giving gifts, but by identifying older or vulnerable people who would benefit from receiving a gift this Christmas.
David Moore, owner of Home Instead Stockport commented:
“We are delighted to be running our ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ campaign again this year! It always has an amazing turnout, with numerous local organisations, businesses, schools and individuals getting involved to really give back to the elderly throughout our local community.
“The pandemic and the lockdown periods have been really hard for older people, increasing instances of isolation and loneliness as many were separated from friends and family for months at a time, and many who depend on support groups did not have access to these at all.
“At the end of another difficult year, it is a really simple way to give back- but one that can make such a difference, which is why we are calling upon the local community to get involved in whatever way they can!”
The company are looking for simple, small gifts which would be appreciated by older people, including socks, gloves, hats, chocolate, biscuits, toiletries, puzzles, games and jigsaws.
The team at Home Instead will be distributing these gifts to their own older clients, care home residents across the town, and people identified through the campaign closer to Christmas.
