Over 60 business joined the directors of Marketing WAM at its official launch at the Rex Cinema and welcomed the opportunities it is creating to support business growth.
Marketing WAM is a new B2B publishing platform designed to promote and connect businesses in the important commercial districts of Wilmslow, Alderley and Macclesfield.
Backed by Helen White and Richard Higginson, co-founders of neighbouring organisation Marketing Stockport , Marketing WAM presents a natural extension where local businesses can connect to further business development.
Marketing WAM will replicate Marketing Stockport’s success in putting the spotlight on an area that is already attracting inward investment and has huge potential for sustained growth.
Publishing Director Sue Souter commented:
“We have been really delighted with the response to Marketing WAM and we have a growing list of members, supporters and interested parties who want to know more.”
Business Development Director Jan Cowan agreed:
“It’s been an encouraging start. Our main focus is to help businesses grow, to build long-term partnerships and to enrich the local economy by promoting its business community. People have quickly got that vision and engaged with us.”
GUEST SPEAKERS at the launch, Marketing Stockport gold members Steve Oliver, CEO of musicMagpie and Carl Hampson, General Manager of Allied Bakeries, joined Esther McVey, Cabinet Minister for Housing and Planning, who attended the launch event.
Esther said that organisations like Marketing WAM helped shine a light on the important contributions of Cheshire-based businesses to the Northern Powerhouse vision and that both north and south of the country needed vibrant economies to secure a bright commercial future for Britain.
WAM’S first monthly breakfast meeting takes place at Mottram Hall on 29th November and Marketing WAM directors expect another great turnout.
The strategic regeneration plan for Macclesfield and what that means for business, job creation and skills will be top of the agenda at the meeting on 29th November with Councillor Nick Mannion explaining more.
There will also be a spotlight on the £multi-million investment in meeting hosts Mottram Hall from the MD of Champneys Health Resorts and then there will be the inside track from Robinsons Brewery and Forest Gin on turning the Cat and Fiddle into the area’s first whisky distillery.
Marketing WAM member Mandy Fazelnia from national telcoms company Zest4, based in Wilmslow, said they had joined the group to support a first ever local service offer:
“This is perfect timing for us as we look to provide smaller scale telcoms solutions to local clients.”
Bellway Homes is also on board as is Mellington Estates and Wilmslow Conference Centre (WCC), which has recently launched a range of exciting new facilities at Total Fitness.
WCC Business Development Manager Kevin Darley is working with the Marketing WAM team on a January 2020 Fit for Business event with CEO Sophie Lawlor presenting.
Kevin said:
“We love the energy and ideas of the Marketing WAM team as they look to draw people out and tell their stories in this area. It’s a powerful combination. We’ve joined because we have a fantastic Conference facility to showcase. Marketing WAM is new and so are we – we look forward to growing our companies together.”
