The Mayor & Mayoress of Stockport visited Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet to collect a cheque for The David Hopkins Foundation for £6,150.23 – Life Leisure’s foundation to help local groups and sports clubs.
The money donated will be used predominantly for applications from Reddish and surrounding area; the money will be helping people in close proximity to the mill, directly contributing to the local community.
Julie Sym – Owner and Director of Broadstone Mill Shopping Outlet said:
“ We are delighted to help and encourage people to keep fit and healthy through exercise and sport.”
The David Hopkins Foundation supports sport and sports clubs across Stockport and accepts applications from any individual, group or organisation in Stockport for funding that will benefit their sports club and help make a difference to the provision of sport and physical activity, enabling more children and adults from any background to become more active and participate in their chosen activity.
Mandy Waller, Business Relations Manager at Life Leisure commented,
‘The David Hopkins Foundation committee have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Broadstone Mill. The funding will go a long way to helping many clubs in Reddish and Stockport provide for their membership and club development, and also help ensure young and old alike get to continue in sport at various levels of competition. It is great to see other local businesses investing in sport and participation in Stockport.’
After the cheque presentation and photographs with the Broadstone Mill and Life Leisure Teams the Mayor and Mayoress also enjoyed a tour round the shopping outlet, a visit to the Pure Innovations Studio as well as some of the Galleries businesses. They also took time out for a morning coffee and cake in The Mill Tea Room.
