Prime Minister Theresa May called an emergency press conference this morning and announced that she is calling a General Election on June 8th.
The announcement came as she “recently reluctantly came to the conclusion that a vote was necessary in the wake of Brexit” to ensure a smooth transition out of Europe.
Downing Street have always denied a vote would be held before the next scheduled election in 2020.
Prime Minister Theresa May believes that a General Election is necessary to retain public confidence as the political agendas were threatening the likely hood of a smooth Brexit.
