Blackstone Solicitors have adopted Midshire’s desktop Solution to assist in business growth.
Blackstone Solicitors is to benefit from Midshire’s new hosted desktop solution, enabling continued expansion of its operations.
The award-winning solicitors will implement office technology sales and service provider Midshire’s own cloud-hosted Desktop Monster solution to meet the company’s growing IT needs.
A review of Blackstone’s IT infrastructure showed the hosted desktop route proved to be a more cost-efficient proposition as a new server would have required significant upfront investment and ongoing support charges. A hosted solution actually reduced costs and kept investment to a minimum.
Daniel Thomas, Litigation Partner at Blackstone Solicitors, said: “Our previous experience of implementing a legal specific hosted desktop system proved counter-productive. We were experiencing regular spates of downtime, which was affecting our productivity as a firm.
“Midshire offered us the opportunity to fully test their platform on a trial basis so we could be confident that ‘Desktop Monster’ was both an ideal fit for our needs and provided 100% uptime.
“With Midshire’s help, we successfully and seamlessly migrated accounts onto the Desktop Monster platform, for the key decision makers to test and evaluate.”
Midshire has been supplying photocopier and printer services to Blackstone for over three years. Following investment in their IT solution, Midshire has expanded their portfolio of products to complement their previously core services.
David Clark, Midshire Senior IT Consultant comments: “Desktop Monster works on a Microsoft platform, where little training is required. Once users login to the Citrix platform, they are met with the familiar, standard Windows interface.
“A hosted desktop can bring many benefits to a company including increased security of business data and decreased annual maintenance costs for IT support. It enables users to access their desktop remotely, on multiple devices, including tablets and smartphones, reducing the need to replace device hardware.”
Daniel explains: “Desktop Monster has proved to be an ideal and stable platform. If we need to contact the Midshire team they are quick to respond and able to fix problems remotely, without interfering with our work.”
The Desktop Monster data centre is based in the UK and all data is stored in accordance with UK data protection laws.
Daniel emphasises the importance of a secure solution: “Data security is vitally important to us as a legal firm. The Desktop Monster Data Centre is based in the UK, which means we know that our data is stored under UK data protection laws, which is absolutely necessary for us.
“The additional security means that should a laptop or phone get stolen or misplaced, no confidential data is stored locally. Customers can be sure that their data and client data is safe.”
A hosted desktop is a scalable solution, making it perfect for growing companies who wish to frequently add new users.
Daniel concluded: “When we joined Desktop Monster, we had 13 licenses, we’re now onto our 24th license. Midshire even source our computers for us so that when a new starter joins, they have everything ready and waiting.”
Desktop Monster is up for Best Newcomer and Best Technology Product at the Talk of Manchester Awards (TOMs) this Thursday.
