Transport for Greater Manchester is encouraging individuals and organisations to take part in Cycle September, a global competition to encourage more people to travel by bike.
Starting from 1st September, individuals and workplaces can compete on local, national and global leaderboards, earning points for every mile and day participants ride, as well as for encouraging others to sign up and take part in the scheme. Journeys can be anywhere, and anytime: to the shops, to work or just a 10 minute spin around the park.
Participants could win bikes, gear, restaurant vouchers and lots of other great prizes – plus if you encourage your company to sign up and your team tops the national leaderboard at the end of September, you could win Cyclehoop equipment for your workplace.
Individuals can benefit from taking part in the scheme through the health and well-being boost that comes from regular exercise, and helping to save money in transport and parking costs.
Organisations that sign up will gain access to a simple team-building and staff engagement programme which helps work towards sustainability goals and support staff to be more active and environmentally conscious in their travel choices.
You can take part in Cycle September by following 3 easy steps:
- Register at lovetoride.net/gm
- Join your company or invite your workplace to register (you can join or register a group or ride solo too!)
- Log rides manually in September or connect your favourite cycling app (Strava, MapMyRide or Endomondo). Your rides will be recorded automatically and will sync your last 30 days of riding!
The competition kicks off on the 1st September, but those signing up to Cycle September by midnight on 31st August will be entered into a draw to win a brand new Cannondale Lefty bike, worth £3,400.
Further information is available about the scheme, prizes, and how to take part on the Love To Ride website.
