Greater Manchester Police’s new iPhone app is off to a flying start with almost 6,000 downloads in the first week.
The new app, which uses geo-location technology to allow people to become crimefighters and to get closer to their local neighbourhood policing teams, is the first of its kind for police forces in the UK.
The app provides access to information about the nearest police station and neighbourhood policing team information, officers details, meetings, student safety zone in Manchester and an ‘around me’ feature that plots news, appeals, wanted people nearby the user.
It has been developed by GMP staff and is available now to download from the App Store. An Android version will be available in spring 2013.
You can find out more about the app on our App Support page.
