Stockport based accountants Bennett Verby has promoted two directors to its board as equity shareholders as part of its ambitious growth plans.
The promotion of Neil Jones and Peter Gibbons brings the total number of board directors at Stockport-based group to eleven. Chief Executive Bernard Verby says he intends to appoint further directors in the coming months.
Bernard says the promotions form part of the firm’s long term strategy to bring younger members onto the board in order to take the business to the next level.
Bernard (pictured left) says:
‘’We are implementing a very substantial and aggressive growth
plan to expand the business over the next five years which should
take us to double the size. This is only the first round of
promotions to the board and we plan to have further additions over
the next 12 months.”
Peter joined the firm 20 years ago as a semi-senior accountant.
Within five years he became a manager and now runs the small
business and start-ups department. Many of his original clients
are still with him and some have seen their turnover grow to more
than £30m.
Neil joined aged 16 in 1999 on a Modern Apprenticeship as an accounts trainee. The business invested in his training and development and supported him through CAT and ACCA qualifications. He became a manager eight years ago.
Bernard added:
“Neil and Peter have been awarded promotions not only due to
their length of service but recognition for their hard work and
excellent client service
“We are committed to promoting from within to recognise the
hard work and commitment achieved by members of our team.”
