Applications have opened for early stage cybersecurity start ups in Greater Manchester to join a new accelerator programme from the city-region’s Digital Security Hub (DiSH).
DiSH launched in June 2022 as a collaboration by Barclays, Lancaster University, University of Manchester and Plexal, and aims to support 500 tech start ups in the city-region and create over 1,000 new jobs. The DiSH accelerator will begin on 24th October for three months, giving new businesses access to mentors, coaching, events, industry connections and other support in their early stages.
Plexal, the scheme’s innovation partner, is inviting early stage businesses, including those at pre-seed investment level, to apply to the programme by 11th September. DiSH partners take no intellectual property or equity from participating firms, and the accelerator is free to join.
Saj Huq, chief commercial officer and head of innovation at Plexal, said:
“The DiSH Accelerator promises to act as a catalyst for that opportunity and we encourage ambitious start ups to apply.”
The accelerator programme aims to support the rapidly growing digital and cyber security sector in Greater Manchester. The city-region is home to a number of locally founded tech unicorns, as well as a wealth of SMEs and major organisations such as GCHQ and Google.
