With Christmas online shopping in full swing be on your guard for spam virus emails and attachments. So many of us buying online and receiving email confirmations – there is a chance malicious emails and attachments could get through.
Also in the news this week was a spate of emails suggesting the email recipient had been caught speeding and the note was made to look like it was from GMP.
On Thursday 15th December , Stockport based Amshire IT Solutions encountered another customer infected with a new variant of the Locky / Osiris Ransomware. The customer has received an email which had an attachment which they decided to open it.
Advice from Amshire – Please please no matter what protection you have in place, don’t open attachments that you are not expecting!
Amshire are now starting the process to recover the customers 21,000 files that have been encrypted in 40 minutes! Luckily for them they will not lose too much data. The company had implemented a Disaster Recovery solution which means they can recover the data from 1a given time perdio. It could have been a lot worse but it could have been avoided.
Don’t spoil your Christmas by putting you and your business at risk!
