Joint agents, Colliers and Impey, have been appointed to market Stockport Pyramid, one of the most iconic buildings on the local landscape.
The Pyramid, an 86,000 sq ft glass office facility at Kings Reach, was home to the Co-Operative Bank from 1995 and became surplus to requirements following the relocation of its operations.
Saudi investor, Eamar Developments, purchased the freehold building – a great example of modern architecture – for around £4.5 m in May this year when, at the time, its future was undecided.
Dominic Pozzoni, director of national offices at Colliers, said:
“The forthcoming availability of Stockport Pyramid represents an exciting and unique opportunity for businesses to acquire an exceptional HQ office building in an outstanding location.
“Upon completion of the refurbishment, the Pyramid will help to address the strong level of demand from businesses seeking grade A office space in South Manchester.”
Stockport Pyramid, which was originally to be the first of three pyramid buildings to be built at Kings Reach, was empty for several years after its completion after its original developers went into administration. The Co-operative, which also funded the project, occupied the building in 1995 having failed to find a buyer.
Tenants are being sought for the Pyramid which is situated on Junction 1 of the M60, the building totals 86,000 sq ft over five floors with 426 on-site car parking spaces.
Stockport is currently enjoying a resurgence of interest in the town which is currently in the midst of a £1bn investment project with multiple projects in the pipeline.
New grade A office accommodation at the redeveloped area around the rail station, Stockport Exchange, attracted immediate interest with One Stockport Exchange being fully occupied upon completion by Stagecoach and musicMagpie the biggest reseller of physical media and consumer technology in the world.
The next phase at Two Stockport Exchange is in build and due to complete by the end of February 2020. Overall, the building will provide 61,500 sq ft of offices and has already been pre-let by an international company relocating into the town centre.
