The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) has launched a new competition offering £750,000 funding for concepts, technologies, or ideas that may disrupt the future of defence.
The themed competition, Disruptive Science and Technology Impacting the Future of Defence, is being run on behalf of the UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl). It is hoped the scheme will create a pool of novel ideas and concepts to drive radical change in the UK defence sector.
DASA and Dstl are seeking ideas that may underpin generation-after-next technology, concepts or approaches and could disrupt traditional defence technologies and thinking. Proposals submitted to the competition will help defence understand how new technologies can develop and impact defence priorities, and have a game-changing impact on future military capabilities.
A webinar will take place on 21st September to provide organisations considering an entry with more information on the challenge areas and guidance on how to submit proposals for the competition and funding. The deadline to submit a proposal is midday 12th October 2022.
The full details of the competition are available from the government website, here.
The challenge forms part of the Defence Science and Technology Futures (DSTF) Programme that aims to look beyond developed science and technology to help plan for the future, combat threats, and take advantage of opportunities.
