Award-winning Stockport law firm Gorvins Solicitors has had a record 12 months as the company increased turnover, recruited new staff, celebrated award wins and announced a strong set of financial results for the year ending November 2014.
The leading Stockport firm confirmed a 6 per cent increase in its turnover to almost £7 million and a steady growth in fee income. The three years to November 2014 have produced compound annual growth of 6% per year while compound growth in profits has exceeded 10% in the same period.

The firm’s Litigation department, led by senior partner Mark Deverell, recorded an excellent twelve months, increasing fee income by almost 20% to more than £1.2million.
Residential Property also had an outstanding year, increasing fee income by almost 60% in a market where the number of completions in England in the six months to November grew by under 9%.

The firm retained Top tier Legal 500* rankings for Litigation and Commercial Property teams and the firm’s Corporate & Commercial and Wills, Trusts and Probate departments achieved impressive first time rankings in law firm league table Chambers and Partners.
Individuals within the Wills, Trusts and Probate team also took honours in prestigious national and regional award schemes for outstanding work in power of attorney and living with dementia education programmes.
Partner Christine Thornley was Highly Commended Solicitor of the Year in The Law Society Excellence Awards and Highly Commended Lawyer of the Year at the Modern Law Awards, whilst Associate Solicitor, Tasoula Crosby won Legal Professional of the Year at the Manchester Young Talent Awards.
Twenty-one new recruits took up roles across the firm, ranging from marketing support posts to key senior client-facing hires, including employment law specialist Ed Gregory, who joined from Addleshaw Goddard, and Peter Speight who was appointed to bolster the firm’s insolvency team.
Residential Property saw the largest influx of recruits, nine people joining the department to continue the outstanding growth in workload.
Notable deals led by Gorvins Solicitors in the twelve month period included the sale of ACH Group Management Limited to Quindell PLC, a £10.8 million line of credit for bridging loan specialist Bridgebank Capital, and the 50 per cent sale of recruitment agency Matt Burton Group to SF Resourcing Limited.
