Another landmark has been reached in Stockport’s 100:100 apprenticeship scheme as Stockport employers have now pledged to employ 203 apprentices within 100 days in the scheme run by Stockport Council in partnership with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
The target of 100 apprentices was soon reached in early September and the campaign has now closed.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Lifelong Learning and Achievement, said:
“It is really positive news that over 200 young people in Stockport have this opportunity to work as apprentices. I hope that this will lead to permanent positions for these young people.
“This ground breaking initiative will help our young people gain confidence and get, for many of them, their first experience of working for a local organisation which in turn will help boost the local economy. I would like to thank all the local employers, large and small and in many different sectors, who are supporting this innovative scheme.”
