Greater Manchester Social Work Academy – GMSWA – are holding a careers event on Friday 27th April at University of Salford at Media City UK in Salford Quays M50 2HE. Registration from 9:30am – 10am.
The GMSWA is a combination of 10 Local Authorities, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan. 3 Universities, including Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Manchester and University of Salford. After Adoption as the third sector partner and the Public Improvement Board (PIB) makes up the independent entity.
At the GMSWA careers event there will be various events including:
‘Careers Service: Application Forms’ – This workshop is facilitated by Careers Services from Manchester Metropolitan University, University of Manchester and University of Salford. During this workshop you will have the opportunity to consider what is required in your personal specification form (a key requirement when applying for social work posts) and ask any questions in relation to applying for jobs.
‘Employers: Interviewing Skills’ – Employers from Local Authorities and the Private, Voluntary and Independent sector will lead this workshop to share with you the standards expected within the interview process.
‘NQSW Panel’ – This is a panel of Newly Qualified Social Workers who have taken time out of their busy schedule to share with us their experiences of applying for jobs. This is a chance to hear the highs and lows from the people who know.
‘Employer led mock interview experience’ – This is an opportunity for you to practice and shape your interviewing skills in a safe environment with the employers who have everyday experience of interviewing NQSWs.
The GMSWA partnership looks to improve social work standards across Greater Manchester in various ways such as providing interview opportunities, continued professional development and different routes into the Social Work profession.
