As one of the UK’s few genuinely independent engineering service providers, Cobalt is technology agnostic, with a high degree of expertise and familiarity across almost every combustion and gasification system available on the market, across a diverse range of fuels, including municipal solid waste (MSW), refuse-derived fuel (RDF), clinical, hazardous waste and biomass feedstocks.
Cobalt Energy is always willing to look at new sectors, using our practical, hands-on approach to ensure efficient and sustainable solutions, including the adaptation to the challenges of the race to Net Zero and energy systems away from reliance on fossil fuels.
Across the Cobalt Group, our Engineering and Technical Services team provides consultancy, engineering works and technical studies, while our Projects and Construction team supports project development and delivery, including EPC/EPCM contracts and construction. Our Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams operate and maintain five thermal renewable energy facilities across the UK, comprising three Energy from Waste and two biomass facilities. These facilities help divert up to 572,000 tonnes of waste from landfill each year. Our two biomass facilities have a combined generating capacity of 19MW, producing enough renewable electricity to power around 19,000 homes. Cobalt is also expanding its involvement in BESS, supporting the integration of renewable energy into the electricity grid, while continuing to explore opportunities across emerging technologies as the energy sector transitions towards Net Zero.
Following continued growth, Cobalt’s relocation from Buxton to Stockport supports our commitment to becoming part of the local community through volunteering, supporting students’ education and career development, contributing to local projects and working with Stockport-based organisations and businesses.
