Northern is warning of changes to rail timetables taking effect from 10th December across the network, with the rail operator also making some changes to services through Stockport.
While the majority of services will be unaffected, there may be slight re-timing to some services across the network, and passengers are encouraged to use the Check My Timetable service on the Northern website to see if a service they use regularly will be altered.
Tricia Williams, chief operating officer for Northern, said:
“Whilst the overwhelming majority of our services remain ‘as is’ – customers should double check any regular journeys they make – especially those with short connections.”
In the North West, the number of carriages on some services will be increased or decreased to reflect customer demand, with a number of routes serving stations across Stockport affected by these changes.
Off peak trains between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton will run with two carriages instead of four under the new timetable, affecting passengers travelling from stations between Stockport and Hazel Grove.
Passengers using Heald Green and Gatley stations will also see a reducing in the number of carriages on quieter services between Manchester Airport and Blackpool North, while peak-time trains between Manchester Airport and Liverpool will see an additional carriage running.
TransPennine Express has also issued a similar warning to passengers, and will introduce an updated timetable on its services through Stockport between Liverpool, Sheffield and Cleethorpes.
