Benchmark was started in March 2015 after (collectively) over 20 years spent in the Fitness Industry watching people not getting support, not feeling welcome, and not receiving expert training at the gym.
Walking into the gym when you’re low in confidence, anxious and unsure on what to do is not easy.
With so many stressors in life already, we wanted to take that stress away and make the gym a fun, warm, exciting place to be.
We really wanted to spin the gym experience completely on its head.
We saw everyone ‘going-it-alone’ by themselves – we focused on group training to bring people together and create a positive electric environment.
We saw people not getting support – we worked hard every day to make sure the Benchmark Team were delivering 1-2-1 support in small groups every session.
We saw that you had nobody to speak to about your progress outside the gym – we set up monthly reviews so you always have the opportunity to speak to a trainer every month.
We saw everyone using treadmills, cross-trainers, bikes, and tedious weights machines – we don’t use any of that, we have a team of trainers to teach you on what is best for your body.

Strength training is really at the forefront of all our sessions, we mean this physically as well as mentally.
When you train at Benchmark you will always have a trainer there to support you, show you what to do and give you that positive nudge to push you a little bit further every session.
Commitment is key for us, on all levels. We want people at Benchmark that are committed to turning up weekly to make a difference to your life, and the people around you.
Community is a huge focus for us as we want you to feel welcome, like you’re training with friends, instead of feeling like you’re alone. We work so hard to provide a positive, none judgemental and a comfortable environment.
